Volunteers of the B.B. King Museum contribute much more than time and allow the Museum to accomplish more than it could otherwise. Consider the following when choosing an opportunity that is right for you! Groups and individuals who give willingly of their time show that a project is worthwhile providing credibility. Volunteers coming from a wide range of interests and backgrounds show support for diversity. Outreach volunteers help to share the museum and its activities with a larger audience. Special skills brought by volunteers increase the range and scope of possible projects.
Hospitality: Greet visitors as they arrive to tour or participate in special events! Provide refreshments for lectures and small gatherings. Become an ambassador for the Museum and Indianola – linking visitors to other Delta sites and attractions.
Docent Program: A docent is a volunteer trained to guide visitors as they learn about the Museum.
Special Events: Assist Museum staff with private parties, receptions, annual functions and concerts. Volunteers help with various aspects including preparation, set-up, clean-up, refreshments, and guest assistance.
Education: Assist with adult and/or youth programs including art, music and cooking classes, lectures and other workshops. Other opportunities include family tours, after-school programs and camps.
Administration: Help behind the scenes! Assist museum staff with tasks including photocopying, filing, bulk mailings and typing.
Outreach: Support the Museum’s efforts to actively promote the Museums happenings throughout the community. Outreach volunteers are enthusiastic and strive to increase audience awareness and encourage the Delta community to be involved with the B.B. King Museum.
