B.B. KING MUSEUM RECEIVES $500,000 FROM AT&T
B.B. King and Governor Haley Barbour among the Dignitaries at Special Event

JACKSON, Miss., November 9, 2007 – AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced a $500,000 donation to the B. B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in Indianola. The funds will help build an education center at the museum.
Currently under construction and set to open in the fall of 2008, the B. B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center will encompass 20,000 square-feet of exhibitions and educational programs designed to preserve the legacy of B. B. King, explore the rich cultural legacy of the Mississippi Delta, and promote pride, hope, and understanding.
Blues legend B. B. King and Governor Haley Barbour will join local musicians and dignitaries from the Delta and North Mississippi to celebrate AT&T’s donation during a special event at The Hollywood Cafe in Robinsonville, Miss. on Friday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. AT&T Mississippi President Mayo Flynt will present the company's donation to King and museum officials at this time.
"AT&T believes in the vision of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center, and we’re proud to be a supporter," said Flynt. "This museum will honor the life work of B. B. King, celebrate and preserve the Delta blues, impact the lives of young people, attract visitors to Mississippi, and promote a better quality of life for all."
B. B. King is looking forward to returning to the Mississippi to accept the donation. "It thrills me so to know that my home state is behind this museum," King said. "I am honored and humbled that AT&T has chosen to show their support for this cause. I am so grateful to them."
"Mississippi is the birthplace of America's music and it all started with blues in the Delta," Barbour said. "AT&T's significant gift will have a sizable impact on the museum, the Delta region, and help preserve Mississippi's unique and world-renowned cultural heritage."
Guests at Friday's event can expect to hear music from Homeade Jamz, a talented children’s blues band; enjoy The Hollywood Cafe's famous fried dill pickles; hear remarks from King, Barbour, and Flynt; and witness a special check presentation.
