We will be holding the opening reception for the “Blame it on the Blues” exhibition on Thursday, January 10, which will be displayed throughout the Barksdale Cotton Gin and the Museum lobby until February 3. The exhibit is a collaboration of several artists’ work, including paintings, sculptures and mixed-media pieces, with the Blues as an overall theme. Several of the featured artists will be attending the reception, including Howard Jones, Shelia Malone, Tommy Reaves, Joanne Adams, Rhonda Blasingame, Anne Campbell, Chad Mars, Stephanie Lacey, and Terrell Jones. The reception will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Barksdale Cotton Gin, and it is free and open to the public. Many of the pieces are also for sale and those interested in purchasing one can contact Tammy Golden, Special Events Manager of the Greater Jackson Arts Council, at 601-960-155.
