B.B. King Museum Announces Line-Up for Anniversary

The B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center is commemorating the one-year anniversary of its opening, as well as B.B. King’s birthday, on Saturday, September 12th! Live music will be featured all day on three stages at the Museum and outside on the grounds. The day of entertainment concludes at the Museum with a viewing of the 1983 film, B.B. King Live at Austin City Limits, at 7:00 p.m. presented by ACL founder, Terry Lickona and Vice President, Edward Bailey, who are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the show.

Music will run from 9:00 a.m. ‘til dusk on three stages -- the Open Air Market at the front of the Museum, inside in Lucille’s Gift Shop, and on the Traditional Stage on the lawn of the Museum in front of the new AT&T Learning Center. The line-up includes legendary blues artist King Edward, followed by Bobby Whalen, Electric Mud, Brantley Caitlette, and Billy Smiley with the Coleman Middle School Band. Local musicians Alan Jones, Jerry Fair and the Delta Blues Crew will be performing throughout the day, and other musicians, groups and gospel choirs are also expected to join in.

Clarksdale native Blind Mississippi Morris will be present at 12:00 p.m. for a media conference and to engage with anniversary guests. Morris will perform live at Club Ebony the night before -- Friday, September 11. For club information, please call 662-887-5436 or 207-7498.

B.B. King Live at Austin City Limits is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Museum’s theater.

Indianola’s Open Air Market, scheduled from 9:00am – 2:00pm, will offer local produce and an Art Expo. Second Street Art, a children’s exhibit, showcasing works created during community art classes will also be on view. The AT&T / B.B. King Museum Learning Center, officially dedicated earlier that week, will be open for families to visit the Reading Corner or The Writing Center – where children write their own blues songs to perform with friends in their very own jug band!

Local merchants and restaurants will be welcoming music fans with live performances and other special events. Indianola welcomes you, your friends and family to join us in celebrating the B.B. King Museum and its community.
